so much wisdom in this one kathleen! i am saving it to come back to later when i need the reminder 😋 a lot of it is slowing down and listening to what our bodies are telling us
The reminder that rest isn’t a reward but a requirement felt grounding, and I love the question you pose: not how fast can I get there, but how can I stay connected to myself while I move? That shift turns achievement into something sustainable rather than exhausting. I’ve been writing about something similar — learning to live and move from presence instead of pressure — if you’d like to read it here: https://theeternalnowmm.substack.com/p/eternal-love?r=71z4jh
Thanks for this - I love your reflection on the relationship between love, fear and how time moves. I feel like these are some of the most profound topics we come across! Appreciate the share 💗
As a recovering “burn-outee” also, seeing acronyms such as SMART etc still has an impact on my nervous system. Your sense of worth , EVERYTHING, is rolled up in a big neat mess of pain in the pit of your stomach when you overreach and overextend. Then there’s the possibility of everything coming tumbling down. Thankfully, for me, realising that I was allowing fear to be my driver was a turning point . I had to get balance back and find the sweet spot where my desires/goals were calibrated with how my nervous operated. I did that by figuring out what my universal drivers are ( mine are significance and growth) as well as unpacking my universal fear( feeling like a fraud ). Now, I try to set my goals in a way that won’t trigger, or be as much of a trigger as it could be.
Amazing that you were able to determine your main driver - so empowering! Thanks for sharing this, I love hearing about others’ experiences coming through burnout (and the term “burn-outee” made me chuckle)
I'm so glad this is the first thing I read today. As I try to get the house ready for a grandparent visit and still want to get so much done/be the perfect hostess/enjoy my Saturday. Thank you for all of the important reminders!
Wholeheartedly agree with each of your points, especially when it comes to giving ourselves permission to change our minds. In relation to that, if I may, I would like to challenge mainstream advice on sharing goals. The idea of course, is accountability and motivation. The real world challenge is even when people love you they may not agree with your goals, or may even resent the idea of you changing/growing. And, if you happen to change your mind or make a mistake along the way, this will become fuel for the fire and chances of you giving up become much greater. This is a lesson I learned the hard way. I didn't give up, but it made the process and the journey much tougher.
I really appreciate you sharing this, Marquita. You’re so right; sometimes sharing goals adds accountability, and other times it adds pressure or resistance we didn’t anticipate.
I love what you said about giving ourselves permission to change our minds. That feels like the throughline for me - whether we share our goals or hold them quietly, we’re allowed to evolve along the way.
So beautiful.
Thank you Pasqual 💗
You’re welcome. ❤️

Aw thank you Hana! I actually have some of these written out in my office… so I need them too!
And absolutely… learning to listen to our bodies is a great way to summarize this

well done. Reminds me of the Turtle and the Hare story. Thank you.
Thank you, Jay! Oh yes, great point. Sometimes the simple stories really are the most powerful 💗

That tension to get it all done and be the perfect hostess is so real. I’m so glad this found you when you needed it 💗
And thank you for reading!
Great read to start the day. I actually needed this because I’m “falling behind” on my plans for writing my autobiography.
It will happen when it needs to happen.
Those deadlines we set for ourselves are so sneaky… absolutely, it will happen when it happens!
Thanks Matt 💗

Thank you for adding this nuance 💗
